MY FAVORITE SHOPPING DESTINATION on Black Friday is not my nearest Best Buy, it's not Fortunoff,or Bloomingdales . It's actually the Woodbury Common Outlets in upstate New York. AND I don't even shop for people on my shopping list, I shop for me. Isn't that just shameless? I do. I take advantage of the sales on this day and then rush to get everyone on my list something in the coming weeks (read Christmas Eve). I'm terrible, truly I am. I always have intentions of starting early, and I do ... partially. I bought my nieces and nephews books and maps already. Every year I do this. But then, the day before Christmas, I will panic and think, "If I want to remain a beloved auntie I better come better than books and maps!" These are just fillers NOT the main thing.
Last year, this night must have been the coldest night of the year. Traffic was jammed pack along the New York State Thruway. We sat for 3 or 4 hours on the Thruway and by the time we made it in, at about 3AM, all the flyest Asians were already in their Benz leaving with all the best stuff. Seriously.
If you're as shameless as I am, or if you want to do a bit of shopping for people on your list - there are shops for everything you can think of - Woodbury Common has got to be your Black Friday destination. Stores open on Friday, midnight, and remain open through the weekend. INSANE!
Last year, I bought a pair of Fendi pumps for $124, a Tadashi Shoji gown for $99, and some other stuff from Calvin Klein, Banana Republic and G-Star Raw. These shops always have really great deals including Gap and Kenneth Cole. You must leave for the Outlets at about 10PM the latest to beat the parking lot that the Thruway will soon become. By the time we made it out of the parking lot to head home, it was 8AM.
Some stores open as early as 9pm on Thanksgiving Day. So, if you are tough enough to brave the wickedest of the wicked fashion fanatics, and I mean elbows and knees - last year people were fighting on the Thruway - make it down to the Premium Outlets. It is totally worth it!

The sales at Woodbury are seriously amazing, even after Black Friday! I went to the TSE Factory Store and they had cashmere hats ranging from $50-$90, cashmere scarves ranging from $100-$250, and cashmere gloves ranging from $60-100 in addition to the luxurious cashmere sweaters and knitwear which were also deeply discounted. I got all of my holiday gift shopping done in one place!
