About Lisa Shaub Fine Millinery
As a young girl I was fascinated by the accessories and costumes of the 18th and 19th century. I enjoyed sewing for myself and my dolls all of the things that I thought a fine lady would need; hats, hoop skirts, and shoes with big bows. When I came of age, I decided that life is too short and if I was going to work, I should create amazing accessories out beautiful materials. After graduating from Mount Holyoke College with a B.A. in Fine Art, I studied Millinery with Ann Albrezio at New York City's Fashion Institute of Technology.
Soon after I was selling my Women's and Children's hat line to Barney's, New York, Henry Bendel and Fred Segal as well as to various boutiques around the U.S. and Japan. But all along my dream was to have a place where I could make all of those fancy, lovely, one of a kind items,:a store of my own. In 1998 that dream was fulfilled when I opened my own New York City hat store, Lisa Shaub Fine Millinery, in Nolita, New York City.
I have learned a great deal in the years that I have had the store. I strive for excellence in fit and design, always remaining true to my inner voice. There is satisfaction in work is well executed and it inspires others to take fashion risks in a way that makes them feel better about themselves. I get many ideas from my customers, who come from all over the world to buy my product. A typical customer may be a schoolteacher, costume designer, professional athlete, architect, writer, artist or accountant. Some of the celebrities that have purchased my work include Clare Danes, Britney Spears, Audrey Tautou, David Scwimmer, Patti Hanson, Theodora Richards and Reuben Santiago Hudson.

Our mission is to create hats that are good looking, well designed and long lasting. We feel that putting on the right hat is like putting on that special pair of well worn jeans-comfy, versatile and endlessly chic. A great deal of energy and time goes into solving specific problems for our customers. The fit, feel and number of ways a hat can be worn are all considerations in the design process.
We also carry a range of other accessories from all over the world. These gloves, handbags, belts, scarves and hair accessories are specially selected to convey the devotion to craft and pursuit of excellence that the Lisa Shaub brand embodies.
